Sara Livingstone

MSW, RSW

Hello, my name is Sara (she/her). I am joining the team as a Clinical Psychotherapy Associate at Dorset Pier Mental Health and will be offering individual sessions with adults and youth (children & adolescents) both online and in person. As a social worker of settler origin, I am grateful for the opportunity to live and work on the traditional lands and waters of Fort William First Nation, signatory to the Robinson-Superior treaty of 1850.

Previously, I have worked alongside those seeking support for substance use and addiction, survivors of sexual violence, and 2SLGBTQ+ identifying folx. I have a special interest in working with individuals seeking support for anxiety, stress management, self-esteem, relationships, or issues relating to sexual and gender identity.

I am dedicated to maintaining a client-centred, strength-based approach and acknowledging the impact of the systems that our lives exist within. To help clients explore and understand their own experience, I may utilize components of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). As a new clinician, I am dedicated to continued education and development, with the hope of integrating various therapeutic approaches into our sessions.

I am a recent graduate, who will be receiving clinical supervision and support at DPMH in my first year of practice. I completed my MSW in November 2023, which included a placement with DPMH providing individual counselling, and graduated from my HBSW in 2022 at Lakehead University.

I would be grateful for the opportunity to meet with you, hear your story, and support you in creating the change you want in your life. I am a white, queer ciswoman, both a member and an ally for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. When I am not in the office, I enjoy being anywhere near, in, or on the water. I am looking forward to meeting you!
